Scilla Gabel

Standing 5'8" with a slim build, auburn hair, and blue eyes, Scilla Gabel is a former Italian actress and model whose career spanned from 1954 to 1988. Born on Tuesday, 4th of January 1938, in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, Italy, she was one of five children. She began her career at around 16 years old, and over 34 years she appeared in 50 films and multiple television programs.

Gabel entered the cinema industry as Sophia Loren's body double. Between 1957 and 1967, she often played the female lead in dozens of films but remained in the shadow of stereotyped roles. In the late 1960s, she shifted her focus to stage and television, where she found her most significant roles and earned critical appreciation. Before her film career, she studied law at Oxford University in England, graduating with a doctorate.

In 1968, she married Piero Schivazappa, and they had one child. Gabel's personal life was touched by tragedy when, on 8 May 1999, her 87-year-old father, Giuseppe Gabellini, was murdered by a tenant, Elisa Santilli, who owed him 900,000 lira in unpaid rent. Santilli stabbed him fifteen times at his villa near Ladispoli, and he died in Gabel's arms. Santilli was later placed under house arrest.
