Biography
About Laura Antonelli
Italian actress Laura Antonelli was born Laura Antonaz on November 28, 1941, in Pola, Istria, which was then part of Italy and is now in Croatia. She passed away on June 22, 2015, at the age of 73. She is survived by her younger brother, Claudio Antonaz. Antonelli initially trained in Naples to teach physical education, but her path shifted when she appeared in Italian Coca Cola advertisements. She made her film debut in 1965 with le Sedicenni and her American debut the following year in Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs. Her breakthrough role came in 1973 with Malizia, a film that would define much of her career.
Throughout the late 1960s and 1970s, Antonelli became known for her work in sex farces like Till Marriage Do Us Part, but she also took on more serious roles. She starred in L'Innocente (1976) and Mogliamante (1977), where she played a repressed wife experiencing a sexual awakening. She later appeared in Passione d'Amore (1981). Her final role was in the sequel Malizia 2mila (1991). She won the David di Donatello prize in 1973 and 1981, as well as the Nastro d'Argento from the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists in 1974.
In May 1991, cocaine was discovered during a police raid on Antonelli's home. She was convicted of possession and dealing and sentenced to house arrest. She spent ten years appealing the conviction, which was eventually overturned. She also left a mark on American pop culture: in Ghostbusters II (1989), Bill Murray's character asks a baby if he wants to watch some Laura Antonelli tapes. She had brown hair, hazel eyes, and a slim build, standing 5'8" tall. She had no tattoos or piercings and was a natural 36C. During her years active, from 1965 to 1991, she was a former actress and Playboy model. She was straight and Caucasian. Full nudity was part of her solo work.
