Gina Bellman

With her slim frame, brown hair and eyes, and a quiet intensity that shines through in every role, Gina Bellman has spent over four decades in front of the camera. She was born in Auckland, New Zealand, to Jewish parents of Russian and Polish origin, who had emigrated from England in the 1950s. When she was 11, her family returned to the United Kingdom, and she grew up in London, attending Rosh Pinah Primary School and JFS.

Bellman made her acting debut in 1982, at just 15 years old, with an episode of "Into the Labyrinth." Two years later, she appeared in two episodes of "Grange Hill." But it was her title role in Dennis Potter's drama "Blackeyes" that made her a household name. She later became well known for playing Jane Christie in the BBC sitcom "Coupling." Her television credits also include "Waking the Dead," "Jonathan Creek," "Little Napoleons," and one-off appearances in "Only Fools and Horses" and "Hotel Babylon."

In 2008, she took on the role of Sophie Devereaux, a grifter, in the TNT series "Leverage." That show ran for several seasons and cemented her popularity with American audiences. Now 60 years old, Bellman continues to act. She stands 5'7" and has a slim build. She is New Zealand by nationality but has spent most of her life in Britain. She remains a recognizable face on British television, known for her versatility and natural presence on screen.
