Biography
About Kylie Bax
Standing 5'10" with green eyes and brown hair, Kylie Bax has a look that launched a thousand magazine covers. Born on January 5, 1975, in Waikato, Thames, New Zealand, she grew up on her parents' horse-breeding farm. She was spotted in a shopping mall by an agent from Clyne Model Management and soon moved to New York, where she became a protégé of photographer Steven Meisel. Working with legends like Karl Lagerfeld, Helmut Newton, and Richard Avedon, she signed with top agencies: Women in New York, Marilyn in Paris, and Storm in London. Vogue covers alone came more than twenty times.
Her career took off quickly. She appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2000 alongside Estella Warren, Veronica Vařeková, and Michelle Behennah. Her campaign list is extensive: Club Monaco, Anna Sui, Clinique, Ann Taylor, DKNY, Escada, Gianfranco Ferre, Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Oscar de la Renta, Sonia Rykiel, Versace, Moschino, Nars, Valentino. She also walked the runway for Moschino, Chanel, Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, Gucci, Galliano, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Alexander McQueen, Chloe, Ralph Lauren, Prada, and Miu Miu. In March 2001, she posed nude in Playboy.
Beyond modeling, Bax has acted in films. Her roles include appearances in 1999's Storm Catcher and The Big Tease, plus 2000 comedies We Married Margo and Jill Rips. In the teen film Boys and Girls, she played a Victoria's Secret supermodel alongside Ines Rivero and Kristy Hinze. In 2001, she starred with Carmen Electra in Get Over It.
In 2009, she sued the French men's magazine Max Magazine for using bare-breasted images of her on its wrapper. No photos were inside the publication. Her lawsuit stated that the 'sexualised nature of the photographs' was inconsistent with the image she sought to develop. The images were taken about six years earlier, and she was not compensated for their use.
Bax is married to Greek fashion photographer Spiros Poros. The couple lives in Athens and has two daughters, Lito and Dione Nefeli, plus a stepson named Aris. Her Lexington, Kentucky farmhouse was featured on MTV's Cribs in 2003. She is part owner of Blandford Lodge horse stud. She is a vegetarian.
