About Elena Rybakina
Elena Rybakina was born on 17 June 1999, the same day she would later make history as the first Kazakhstani to win a Grand Slam title. Her Wimbledon triumph in 2022 placed her among the sport's elite, and she achieved a career-high WTA ranking of No. 12. She remains the Kazakhstani No. 1 in women's singles.
Rybakina's rise was not immediate. As a junior, she reached two Grand Slam semifinals and won the Grade-A Trofeo Bonfiglio in 2017. In June 2018, she switched federations from Russia to Kazakhstan, just after entering the top 200. Her first WTA title came at the Bucharest Open in 2019, and she broke into the top 100 that season. The 2020 campaign was her breakthrough, leading the tour with five finals, including four in her first five events.
Her game is defined by an excellent serve and high-powered groundstrokes. She plays primarily from the baseline, showing good movement for her 6'0" frame.
