Biography
About Echo Johnson
Echo Johnson is a former Playboy centerfold whose career in front of the camera spanned two decades, from 1991 to 2011. She got her start at 18, posing nude for the men's magazine, and soon became part of a well-known group of young Playmates called the "dream teens." That nickname was a playful nod to the 1992 Olympic basketball "dream team," and it stuck to a clique of models who, like Echo, had just finished high school when they began appearing in the magazine. The group included Wendy Kaye, Julie Clark, Tanya Beyer, Tiffany Sloan, Cady Cantrell, and Jennifer LeRoy. They were described around the Playboy mansion as immature, acting "like a bunch of high schoolers," though they were popular with male visitors and clashed with older Playmates.
Echo was born on January 11, 1974, in Austin, Texas, and she is an American of Caucasian ethnicity. She has blonde hair and green eyes, stands 5'7" tall, and has a slim build with measurements of 36–23–33. Her enhanced breasts are a defining feature, and she has posed in full nudity throughout her career. In January 1993, she was named Playboy Playmate of the Month, a highlight of her 20 years in the industry. Before that, in 1992, she won the title of Miss Santa Fe. Over the course of her career, she appeared on 32 covers, in 24 photosets, and in 8 videos for Playboy.
After retiring in 2011, Echo lived in Miami Beach and later in California before moving back to Austin, where she worked in real estate sales. More recently, she has relocated to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and in early 2026 she shared on Facebook that she is dealing with a ruptured breast implant. Her health insurance denied coverage, and she has been unable to work due to pain. She set up a GoFundMe to help with medical expenses, asking friends and family for support. Her story reflects both a notable modeling career and the personal challenges she has faced since.
