About Daisy May Cooper
Daisy May Cooper is a British actress and comedian, best known for co-creating and starring in the BBC Three mockumentary This Country. She was born in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England, but grew up in a two-bedroom council house in Cirencester. Her younger brother, Charlie Cooper, is also an actor and writer, and together they drew on their own experiences for the show. Daisy won the 2018 BAFTA TV Award for Best Female Comedy Performance for her role as Kerry Mucklowe, cementing her place in British comedy.
After graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2010, Daisy took a single role in the ITV series Doc Martin before returning to the West Country. She worked as a cleaner alongside her brother, and those days shaped the writing of This Country. The show began as a pilot for ITV titled Kerry, which was never released, but later found a home at BBC Three. The first series aired in 2017, with a second in 2018 and a third in 2020. She also wrote and starred in the sitcom Am I Being Unreasonable? in 2022.
Beyond This Country, Daisy has appeared in films and television series such as The Personal History of David Copperfield, Avenue 5, and The Witchfinder. She took part in Taskmaster in 2020 and appeared as Otter on The Masked Singer in 2023. She also voiced Tiny the elephant in a TSB advertising campaign. In 2025, she joined the cast of LOL: Last One Laughing UK. Daisy has been open about her personal life, including her marriage to Will Weston in 2019 and their two children, as well as a third son. She comes from a family with acting connections, including her uncle Trevor Cooper and second cousin Mathew Baynton.
