Sophia Nomvete

Sophia Nomvete is a British actress and musician, born in London to South African parents who moved to the UK during the apartheid era. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), where she developed her craft. Nomvete is perhaps best known for playing Disa in Amazon Prime's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a role that made her one of the first Black actresses in the franchise. Her performance was praised for its depth. Beyond screen work, she has an extensive theater background, performing across London's West End. She is also a singer with a powerful voice, having participated in musical theater. Throughout her career, she has advocated for diversity and representation in the arts, speaking about the importance of inclusivity in casting and storytelling. At 40, she stands 5'7" with black hair and brown eyes, and she is of mixed-race, primarily Black, heritage. She identifies as straight. Her body type is chubby.
