About Caroline Wozniacki
Caroline Wozniacki is a Danish professional tennis player who has been a dominant force on the WTA Tour since turning professional in 2005. Born in Odense, Denmark, she achieved the world No. 1 ranking for the first time on 11 October 2010, becoming the 20th player in the Open Era to hold the top spot and the first from a Scandinavian country to do so. She spent a total of 71 weeks at No. 1, including at the end of 2010 and 2011. In 2018, she made history by becoming the first Dane to win a major singles title, triumphing at the Australian Open.
Known for her exceptional footwork and defensive skills, Wozniacki amassed 30 WTA Tour singles titles, including six in both 2010 and 2011, the most in a year by a WTA player from 2008 to 2011, along with two doubles titles. She also won the season-ending WTA Finals in 2017, beating Venus Williams. Before her Australian Open victory, she had reached two major finals at the US Open, losing to Kim Clijsters in 2009 and Serena Williams in 2014. Additionally, she reached four major semifinals and three major quarterfinals, and competed in the quarterfinals at the 2012 London Olympics. Wozniacki retired on 24 January 2020 following a third-round loss at the Australian Open, but announced a comeback in June 2023, targeting the US Open and the 2024 Olympic Games.
Off the court, Wozniacki has been a prominent figure in endorsements, signing with Adidas in 2007 and later becoming an endorser for Stella McCartney's tennis apparel line. She has used Babolat racquets for most of her career, with a brief switch to Yonex from 2011 to 2013. She also endorsed Turkish Airlines, Compeed, Godiva, and others. In 2018, Forbes ranked her No. 8 on their "Most Powerful Women in International Sports" list. Wozniacki's personal life has been equally notable: she was engaged to golfer Rory McIlroy, but the engagement ended in 2014, and she married former NBA player David Lee in 2019. The couple has two children, Olivia and James. In 2018, she revealed her diagnosis with rheumatoid arthritis, aiming to be a role model for others with the condition. She is Danish.
