Anna Fenninger was born on Sunday the 18th of June 1989 in Hallein, Salzburg, Austria, and grew up in the nearby village of Adnet. She is a former Austrian World Cup alpine ski racer who competed from 2004 to 2020, starting when she was around 15. She made her World Cup debut at age 17 in November 2006 and went on to race in all five alpine disciplines, though she omitted slalom from January 2012.
Her first major success came in 2011 when she became world champion in the super combined, even before winning a World Cup race. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, she won the gold medal in the super-G at Rosa Khutor for her first Olympic medal. That same season she claimed the overall World Cup title and the giant slalom title, and she repeated as overall champion in 2015.
