Victoria Silvstedt is a Swedish former actress, model, and beauty pageant contestant who first gained international fame in the 1990s. Born on September 19, 1974, in Skelleftehamn, Västerbotten, Sweden, she grew up in a family of five in Bollnäs, the middle child with an older sister, Veronica, and a younger brother, Daniel. Her father was a ski team captain, and she began alpine skiing at age five, placing fourth in the Swedish national youth championship in 1989. However, a shoulder injury during a competition ended her skiing career at 16. She then entered beauty pageants, winning Miss Sweden in 1993 and placing in the Top 10 at Miss World that year.
Silvstedt's modeling career took off in Paris, where she worked for fashion houses like Chanel, Dior, and Giorgio Armani, and she shared a flat with Melania Trump. Hugh Hefner noticed her and invited her to shoot for Playboy, leading to her being named Playmate of the Month in December 1996 and Playmate of the Year in 1997. She appeared in 19 Playboy editions and became the Guess? spokesmodel in the late 1990s. She has since been featured on over 500 magazine covers worldwide. She also worked as an actress, appearing in Hollywood films like BASEketball and Boat Trip, as well as Italian and French productions. She hosted television shows such as Candid Camera and Eurotrash, and even launched a lingerie line, Very Victoria Silvstedt, in 2006.
