Vera Farmiga

Born in Clifton, New Jersey, Vera began her professional acting career on stage in the original Broadway production of Taking Sides in 1996. After moving to television and film, her breakthrough came in 2004 with the drama Down to the Bone, where she played a drug addict. She received praise for her role in the 2009 comedy-drama Up in the Air, which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Vera made her directorial debut in 2011 with Higher Ground, in which she also starred.
