Puerto Rican surfer Tia Blanco has built a career that spans competitive surfing, acting, and social media. Born in Puerto Rico on May 5, 1997, she grew up in Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and San Clemente, California, thanks to her father's career in the Coast Guard. She started surfing at an early age, taught by her dad, and turned professional early. By the time she was 18, she had already won the 2015 ISA Open Women's World Surfing Championship in Popoyo, Nicaragua. She successfully defended that title the following year in Playa Jacó, Costa Rica.
Blanco's competitive résumé includes victories at the 2014 Under 18 NSSA Southwest Women's and Surfing Prime America Women's competitions, plus a third-place overall finish at the 2014 World Juniors as part of the USA Surfing Team. In 2017, she appeared on MTV's The Challenge: Champs vs. Pros, where she raised $1,000 for St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
