Sherri Martel

With her athletic build and brown hair, Sensational Sherri cut a striking figure in the ring, often wearing flashy robes and holding a loaded purse. Sherri Martel, born Sherry Schrull in Birmingham, Alabama, was an American professional wrestler and manager. She trained in Columbia, South Carolina, and began her career in the Mid South in 1980, starting when she was around 22. Over the next 26 years, she became one of the most recognized women in wrestling.

Martel joined the American Wrestling Association (AWA) in the mid-1980s, where she won the AWA World Women's Championship three times. In the late 1980s, she moved to the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), capturing the WWF Women's Championship. She also managed prominent wrestlers such as Randy Savage, Ted DiBiase, and Shawn Michaels. During the 1990s, she appeared in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where she managed the tag team Harlem Heat.

After leaving WCW, Martel made few wrestling appearances. Her last televised appearance was in September 2006, managing Bobby Roode in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. She passed away on June 15, 2007, at the age of 49. Her career spanned multiple major promotions and left a lasting impact on women's wrestling. For a former wrestler, she kept a relatively low public profile in her final years, but her contributions to the sport are still remembered by fans.
