About Peri Gilpin
American actress Peri Gilpin is best known for her role as Roz Doyle on the hit TV series Frasier. Born on January 27, 1961, in Waco, Texas, she grew up in Dallas, where her family encouraged her acting. She studied at the Dallas Theater Center, the University of Texas at Austin, and the British-American Academy in London. Gilpin first appeared on Cheers, playing Holly Matheson, before landing the role of Roz Doyle on Frasier, a spin-off of Cheers. She played that role from 1993 to 2004, and along with the principal cast, she won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2000.
Gilpin has also appeared in the ABC Family drama Make It or Break It, for which she received a Gracie Award for Outstanding Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Drama Series. She has guest-starred in shows like Medium, Desperate Housewives, Law & Order, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Scorpion, and had a recurring role in Men at Work. As a voice artist, she has voiced characters in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Danny Phantom, Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Hercules: The Animated Series, and the Hellboy animated films. She also did voice work for Wells Fargo and Johnsonville Meats commercials.
Beyond acting, Gilpin has been active in cancer research advocacy through The Sarcoma Foundation of America, following her mother's death from Leiomyosarcoma. Her sister, Patti, also diagnosed with the disease, participates in the foundation. Gilpin married painter Christian Vincent in 1999, and they have twins, Stella and Ava, born by surrogate in 2004. She shares a close friendship with her Frasier co-star Jane Leeves, who is Stella's godmother. Gilpin's career spans decades, and she continues to be recognized for her work on television.
