Miki Berenyi

Miki Berenyi is a British musician of Hungarian and Japanese descent, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the influential shoegaze band Lush. Her career in music spans nearly four decades, beginning in 1987 when she co-founded the band that would become Lush with Emma Anderson, Chris Acland, and Meriel Barham. With Lush, she released several albums and toured extensively across the UK, North America, Japan, and Australia. The band disbanded in 1998 following the tragic death of drummer Chris Acland. In 2015, Lush reunited for a brief period, releasing an EP and performing farewell gigs in 2016.

In 2018, Berenyi formed Piroshka, a new band with Justin Welch, Michael Conroy, and K.J. "Moose" McKillop. They released two albums, Brickbat (2019) and Love Drips and Gathers (2021). Her latest project, the Miki Berenyi Trio, was formed in 2024 with McKillop and guitarist Oliver Cherer. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with members of Cocteau Twins and Moose, including a 1991 single released under the name Lillies. Berenyi is in a relationship with fellow musician K.J. "Moose" McKillop, with whom she has two children. She is the child of Japanese producer and actress Yasuko Nagazumi. At 5'3" and 119 lbs, she has a slim build with black hair and brown eyes.
