Biography
About Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe, born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926, in Los Angeles, California, was a natural redhead with blue eyes and a slim build. She stood 5'6" and weighed 119 lbs, with measurements of 36–22–36. Before becoming a Hollywood legend, she worked in a factory during World War II, spraying airplane parts and inspecting parachutes. An Army photographer spotted her potential, and she soon signed with The Blue Book modeling agency, appearing on dozens of magazine covers.
In 1946, she caught the attention of talent scout Ben Lyon, who arranged a screen test with 20th Century Fox. He suggested she adopt the stage name Marilyn, after Marilyn Miller, and she took her mother's maiden name as her last name. Her early film roles were minor, but she gained notice in All About Eve and The Asphalt Jungle, leading to starring roles in Don't Bother to Knock and Monkey Business. During her career, she was a Playboy Playmate of the Month for December 1953, and her films grossed $200 million by her death in 1962. She died on August 4, 1962, at age 36, sparking speculation and conspiracy theories.
Monroe was married three times: to James Dougherty, Joe DiMaggio, and Arthur Miller. She was also portrayed by Ana de Armas in the 2022 film Blonde. Her natural hair color was red, though she later lightened it to blonde. She had an Instagram following of 2.1 million.
