Edited by the community

Lisa Lyon was a pioneering American bodybuilder, actress, fitness model, and Playboy model. She was born on May 13, 1953, in the United States and died on September 8, 2023, at the age of 70. Lyon is widely recognized for her role in bringing female bodybuilding into the mainstream during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Her measurements in October 1980 were bust 37A, waist 24 inches, hips 35 inches, height 5'4", and weight 120 lbs. She had brown hair and an athletic build.

Lyon was a trailblazer, often cited as the first female bodybuilder to appear in Playboy, though she was actually predated by Kellie Everts, who appeared in a May 1977 pictorial. Her own pictorial ran in October 1980. Beyond modeling, she had a short acting career, playing Mathilde in Three Crowns of the Sailor (1983), Pilar Jones in Getting Physical (1984), and Cimmaron in Vamp (1986). Frank Miller used Lyon as the basis for the Marvel Comics character Elektra's appearance, a testament to her iconic status. Lyon died from stomach cancer at her home in Westlake Village, California. Her legacy as a pioneer in her field endures.
