About Kiana Tom
Kiana Tom was born on March 14, 1965, in Maui, Hawaii, and grew up with a mix of Hawaiian, Chinese, and Irish heritage; her name means 'calm water' or 'moon goddess' in Hawaiian. As a child, she trained as a virtuoso piano player, but her path eventually led to fitness and television. She started her on-screen career in 1988 as one of the hosts of the fitness instruction series BodyShaping, which aired for years. In 1995, she created, hosted, and co-produced her own ESPN show, Kiana's Flex Appeal, a lifestyle, health, and fitness program that ran until 2001. The show's high ratings led ESPN to develop other programs around her, including Kiana's Too Fit 2 Quit, Summer Sizzle with Kiana, and Hot Summer Nights with Kiana. She also hosted ABC Super Bowl Nightlife and accrued many other television hosting credits.
Beyond television, she has been an actress, appearing in the film Universal Soldier: The Return alongside Jean Claude Van Damme; a New York Times review noted that her presence compounded the film's physicality. She has also built a fitness product line, including her book Kiana's Body Sculpting, the Kiana Fitness Wear clothing line, the Kiana Fitness Nutritional Line, and a series of exercise instructional videos, drawing on over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry. Her resume includes the United States Sports Academy Award, an interview on behalf of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, serving as emcee at the Governor's Ball at the inaugural X Games in Newport, Rhode Island, and being named Ms. Shape Magazine. She was also a cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders.
In 2002, she appeared fully nude in the May issue of Playboy, also featured on the cover. She has said she waited until her body was in its best shape ever. She has been married since March 2002 to a fire department captain, and they have two daughters. Her father, Layne Tom Jr., was an actor who played children in Charlie Chan films and the Asian Boy Ranger in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Tom is American, with an athletic body type, standing 5'8" tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has tattoos on her right bicep and left shoulder, and her measurements are 36-23-35. She remains active as a fitness model and trainer.
