Katharina Miroslawa met Witold Kielbasinski while she was still a teenager; he was also Polish but much older. At 18, she gave birth to their only child, Niki, and two years later the couple married and moved to Vienna. There, a nightclub manager proposed that Katharina, young and attractive, perform in the club with her husband. The show proved successful beyond Vienna, leading to a contract in Mantua, Italy, where the couple relocated in the early 1980s.
