About Kate Lawler

Edited by the community

Kate Lawler became the first female winner of Big Brother UK in 2002, a landmark moment that launched her into the public eye. She has since built a varied career across television, radio, and modelling.

Born on 7 May 1980 in Beckenham, Greater London, Lawler entered the Big Brother house as a contestant in the third series. During her 64 days in the house, she received two warnings for breaking rules, one for discussing nominations and another for sending a birthday message to her twin sisters. The finale drew 10.1 million viewers, and her victory made history. In 2008, she returned for the spin-off Big Brother Celebrity Hijack, and since ITV's 2023 relaunch, she has been a regular panelist on Big Brother: Late & Live.

Lawler's television career expanded quickly after Big Brother. In early 2003, she co-presented Channel 4's breakfast show RI:SE until its cancellation in December. She later hosted Playdate on ITV2 in 2006 and became the competition host for Loose Women in 2019. She also participated in reality shows, including Celebrity Wrestling as "The Brawler," where she helped her team win the tag team championship, and Love Island series 2 as a late entrant. Her television appearances span Brainiac: Science Abuse, Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive, Celebrity Hole in the Wall, Celebrity Total Wipeout, Celebrity Coach Trip, Pointless Celebrities, and The Weakest Link.

In radio, Lawler's career has been equally extensive. She began as a DJ on Capital FM in 2002, staying until December 2003. In 2007, she joined Kerrang! Radio, co-hosting the breakfast show with Tim Shaw. After Shaw's suspension in April 2008, she led the show solo initially, then moved to Drive!, which she hosted alone and later with OJ Borg. She became the solo presenter again in October 2009 and was later nominated for a Sony Radio Award for Best Entertainment in 2013. When Kerrang! shifted to digital broadcasting in 2013, Lawler became the official breakfast host, a role she held until February 2016. Simultaneously, she joined Manchester's Key 103 in 2013, with her show networked across other northern stations, ending in May 2015.

In 2016, Lawler joined Virgin Radio at its launch, hosting weekday afternoons and later Drivetime from August 2019 until she left in 2022. She also started a podcast, Maybe Baby, in 2019.

Her modelling career included appearances in men's magazines like Front, Loaded, Nuts, and Zoo. In July 2006, Ann Summers named her as its feature model for lingerie ads. In April 2008, she ran the Flora London Marathon wearing only Ann Summers lingerie, raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Lawler is married since 2022 and has a daughter born in 2021. She remains close friends with fellow Big Brother alumna Alison Hammond. At 46, she stands 5'6" with blonde hair and blue eyes, and an athletic build. Her tattoos include one on the right side of her stomach, and she has a navel piercing. Her measurements are 34–23–33, with a natural 34A bra cup size. She has 674k Instagram followers.

She is British, identifies as Caucasian, and has been active in entertainment since 2002. Her work spans glamour modelling, presenting, and radio hosting, making her a familiar face and voice across British media.
