Joely Richardson

Joely Richardson was born into acting royalty in Marylebone, London, the daughter of director Tony Richardson and Vanessa Redgrave, and the sister of Natasha Richardson. Her family tree also includes Sir Michael Redgrave, Rachel Kempson, and Lynn Redgrave. Yet acting wasn't her first ambition; as a child she imagined a career in tennis. Her father put his foot down, and tennis was out. She attended boarding school at Thacher in Ojai, California, and considers herself a sort of honorary American. Beginning in the '80s, film became her life, from small parts in Wetherby (1985) to BBC dramas like Lady Chatterley (1993) and 101 Dalmatians (1996).

Joely is British and has been active on screen since 1968, though her career truly took off in the 1980s. At 5'10" with a slim build, blonde hair, and blue eyes, she has a striking presence. Her ex-husband is producer Tim Bevan. Beyond acting, she has also worked as a producer, carrying on her family's legacy in the arts.
