Biography

About Jenilee Harrison

Edited by the community

With her blonde hair, blue eyes, and a slim, 5'8" frame, she moved easily from the football field to the television screen. Jenilee Harrison was a cheerleader for the NFL's Los Angeles Rams from 1978 to 1980, before launching an acting career that would make her a familiar face in American living rooms.

Born and raised in Northridge, California, Harrison made her mark on television in 1980 when she joined the cast of ABC's hit sitcom "Three's Company." She was cast as Cindy Snow, the cousin of Suzanne Somers' character Chrissy, who had left the show. Unlike the "dumb blonde" Chrissy, Cindy was an extremely clumsy farm girl. Harrison's character provided plenty of physical comedy, often knocking fellow cast members down in her constant accidents. Although she replaced Somers, she was not given opening credits billing at first; instead, she was billed as a guest star in the end credits, as Somers' contract still required opening billing. For the sixth season, a new blonde roommate, Terri Alden (Priscilla Barnes), took Cindy's place in the apartment, and Harrison was given opening billing but had a lesser role, appearing less frequently. Cindy's last appearance was in the season 6 episode "Janet Wigs Out."

After leaving "Three's Company," Harrison continued acting. In 1984, she played a reluctant prostitute in the movie "Tank," alongside James Garner and C. Thomas Howell. That same year, she began a recurring role on the CBS drama "Dallas" as Jamie Ewing Barnes, a part she played until 1986. Her character was killed off twice; the first time, her car exploded in "Blast from the Past," but that whole season was later explained as a dream, so she returned only to die again in a mountain climbing accident in early 1987.

Harrison also appeared on the game show "Super Password" multiple times in the 1980s and guest-starred on "That '70s Show" in 1999. She was a Playboy model, posing for one cover and one photoset for the magazine. In 2005, she appeared in infomercials for the "Ultimate Chopper with Chef Tony."

In her personal life, Harrison dated L.A. Rams guard Dennis Harrah and baseball player Reggie Jackson in the early 1980s. She married Dr. Bruce Oppenheim in 1993, becoming stepmother to his two children from his previous marriage to actress Cybill Shepherd. Harrison's career spanned from 1978 to 2002, and she wore many hats: actress, cheerleader, musician, Playboy model, and TV host.
