Her raw energy and versatility earned her four AVN Best Actress wins, and she was inducted into the AVN, XRCO, and NightMoves Halls of Fame. She is considered one of the best actresses to ever perform in adult films. Her performances were marked by raw energy and versatility, excelling in both heterosexual and lesbian scenes, with standout scenes in Hothouse Rose for its dramatic intensity and Blue Jean Brat for its playful chemistry. Jeanna began as a blonde-haired punk girl with natural 32 B cup breasts in the adult movie industry when she was 21 in 1986. She claimed that she wanted to take the world of porn by storm, but instead, she vanished after 50 movies that were made between 1986 and 1989 with a reputation of sometimes not even showing up on set. Fine would later attribute this to heroin use and has been vocal about her battles with drug addiction, which she would eventually conquer in the mid-1990s. She re-emerged as a brunette in 1990 and was engaged to fellow porn star Sikki Nixx who had been her boyfriend since 1988. However, the marriage never happened, though it was reported that they did go to the altar, but ironically, the minister never arrived.

After her relationship with Nixx dissolved, she became involved in a poly relationship with fellow porn actress Savannah and football player Rich Bradford. The relationship ended badly, reportedly due to Fine's refusal to commit. Fine would later say, "Savannah and I dated from 1990-1992. We loved each other, but we were bisexual and not lesbians, there is a huge difference. So there was no future. We both loved rock guys, and we both had numerous flings with them during our time together. She badly wanted to get married to one and start a family. We tried a three-way relationship with another guy, but that was a disaster, and I ended it." Afterward, she met and fell in love with Jim Bernstein. They married in 1992, and in June 1993, her son Braxton Zachary was born.

When Braxton was four months old, Fine kickstarted her porn career for the third time, this time now with short hair and large enhanced D Cup breasts, which would be her trademark, along with her new sexually dominant persona. She would be typecast in older woman roles for the rest of her career. This stretch from 1993 to her retirement in 2002, is how Fine is best known to fans. Fine retired in 2002 at 38. There have been attempts by studios to bring her back to shoot in her 40s and 50s, but Fine stated in a 2013 interview, that she wasn't a fan of the industry in the 2000s and had no interest in returning. Despite her acting talent in adult movies, Fine almost rarely sought mainstream roles. She joked in interviews that being a good actress in adult movies was "like being the tallest dwarf".
