Biography

About Anna Malle

Edited by the community

Anna Malle was born Anna Marie Stout on September 14, 1967, in Havana, Illinois, and was raised in Fort Madison, Iowa. She was American, of Cherokee, German, and Irish descent. After graduating from Fort Madison High School in 1985, she worked as an exotic dancer, which led her to adult film opportunities in Los Angeles. She entered the adult industry in 1994, adopting the stage name Anna Malle, a play on "animal" to reflect her uninhibited performance style. Over an 11-year career, she appeared in more than 360 films, working with studios like VCA, Vivid Entertainment, and Max Hardcore Productions. She also shot for magazines such as Gent, Fox, Hustler, and Adult Cinema Review.

Malle was known for her energetic performances, particularly in lesbian and anal scenes. She collaborated frequently with Nina Hartley, who called her "perfect partner" in a posthumous open letter. She worked with performers like Hank Armstrong, her husband, and Alexander Devoe, who credited her with launching his career. Malle directed five films, including Anna Malle's Dirty Dozen (1998). Her notable films include Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle (2000), Laura Croft: Tomb Raider (1998), and Swing Life: Luv Boat (1996). She was inducted into both the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame, in 2013 and 2012 respectively. She won an AVN Award in 2002 for Best All-Girl Sex Scene, Video and in 2005 for Best Group Sex Scene, Video, along with an XRCO Award in 2002 for Best Girl/Girl Sex Scene.

Physically, Malle stood at 5'7" and weighed 115 lbs, with an athletic build and measurements of 34-24-36. She had black hair and brown eyes, and her breasts were enhanced. She had a floral tattoo on her left breast and another left of her pubes. As a teenager, she chipped her two front teeth and wore a veneer, giving her a distinct look. Malle described herself as bisexual and maintained an open marriage with Hank Armstrong. She retired in 2005 and was working at a Bloomingdale's bridal registry in Las Vegas when she died in a car accident on January 25, 2006, at age 38. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Before her death, she had told a friend she was afraid of Las Vegas traffic and how everyone drove 90 mph. Her legacy endures in vintage adult film communities, and her hall of fame inductions cement her status as a dynamic 1990s performer.
