Biography
About DeDe Lind
DeDe Lind stood 5'2" and weighed just 98 lbs, with a slim 34–21–33 figure and natural 32C breasts. The blonde, blue-eyed American became one of the most recognized Playboy models of the 1960s. She was named Playboy Playmate of the Month for August 1967, and her pictorial generated a record amount of fan mail.
Born Diane Gayle Lind in Los Angeles in 1947, DeDe was discovered at age 14 by photographer Leon Beauchemin while at a local pool in Burbank. That led to Teen magazine covers and small TV roles on The Donna Reed Show and Leave It to Beaver. She married her high school sweetheart right after graduating at 17, moved to San Diego, and had a son, but the marriage lasted only a year.
At 18, at Beauchemin's suggestion, she tested for Playboy and was selected. Mario Casilli shot her pictorial, which famously included a Coca-Cola bottle prop; Hugh Hefner, a Pepsi drinker, ordered a reshoot with a Pepsi bottle instead. After her Playboy debut, she modeled for European magazines but turned down most assignments to enjoy personal time. She remarried in the 1970s and kept ties with Playboy, attending mansion events and appearing in the December 1979 issue of Playmates Forever and the early 1980s Playmate Playoffs special. Her video work included Race Horses and a sailing-yacht scene featuring full nudity. DeDe retired in 1985, moved to Florida, and later separated from her husband. Beginning in 1994, she appeared at Glamourcon conventions alongside Cynthia Myers and Debra Jo Fondren. She died of ovarian cancer on February 4, 2020, in Boca Raton, Florida, at age 72.
