About Daria Zawialow

Edited by the community

Polish musician Daria Zawiałow has built a career that spans nearly two decades, from children's competitions to platinum albums. Born in Koszalin, West Pomeranian, Poland, she began performing as a child. In 2007, she won the Children's Competition of Dramatic Interpretation of Song in Wrocław. After middle school in 2008, she moved to Warsaw to study at a music high school. Her big break came in 2009 when she won the TV show "Szansa na sukces" ("A Chance for Success"). That win secured her a spot at the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole. She then became the backing vocalist for Maryla Rodowicz, performing with her for the next two years.

From 2011 to 2014, she competed in the Polish editions of "Got Talent" and "X Factor." In 2012, under the name D.A.R.I.A., she released her first songs: the English-language "Half Way to Heaven" and the Polish-language "Dwa światy." Between 2014 and 2016, she won three music competitions. In May 2016, she married guitarist Tomasz Kaczmarek. That June, she performed at the Opole festival with "Malinowy chruściak," earning two awards. The song stayed on the Polish Radio's Third Program charts for 11 weeks and became the first single from her debut album "A kysz!," released on March 3, 2017. The album went platinum.

Her second album, "Helsinki," dropped on March 8, 2019, and became the best-selling album of the year in Poland. It went triple platinum, selling over 90,000 copies. In 2020, she raised funds for medical personnel during the COVID-19 pandemic and joined the supergroup Męskie Granie Orkiestra. On June 11, 2021, she released "Wojny i noce," which sold over 60,000 copies. In 2022, she divorced her husband. Her fourth album, "Dziewczyna pop," arrived on October 20, 2023, after the May 2023 single "Fifi Hollywood." It also went triple platinum. She toured with Męskie Granie again and has announced a break from performances, with only one concert planned for 2025, set for September 7 in Warsaw. Daria has won eight Fryderyk Awards, Poland's highest music honor. In August 2023, she became a YSL Beauty ambassador. Since April 2024, she has been dating music video director Mateusz Dziekoński.
