Carol Wayne (Actress)

At 5'9" with a 38–24–35 hourglass figure and real 38C bust, Carol Wayne stood out even before she spoke. She was American, born in Chicago, Illinois, and spent nearly two decades in entertainment, from 1966 to 1984. Her green eyes and blonde hair became her signature look.

Carol was best known as the "Matinee Lady" on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, where she appeared in over 100 sketches with Carson's character Art Fern. She regularly played opposite Carson in the recurring bit "The Tea Time Movie," often the target of jokes about her figure. Her final appearance on the show came in 1984; she died exactly one year later. Carson kept Art Fern off the air for much of the following year, then hired Danuta Wesley and later Teresa Ganzel as replacements.

Beyond Carson, she appeared in a famous episode of I Spy opposite Robert Culp. She also worked in many situation and sketch comedies during the 1970s, often playing a dim-witted sex symbol. Her sister Nina Wayne also acted, and both appeared in different episodes of Bewitched in the 1960s. In February 1984, Carol appeared in a Playboy pictorial. She was a former actress, and her career stretched 18 years. Comedy is hard work, but Carol and Nina managed well against respected talent. She died at age 42.
