Carla Bruni

Carla Bruni is a French and Italian singer, songwriter, and former model who also served as the first lady of France. Born in Turin, Piedmont, Italy, she moved to France at the age of seven. She worked as a model from 1987 to 1997, even appearing for Victoria's Secret, before turning to music. In 2000, she wrote songs for Julien Clerc's album Si j'étais elle. Her debut album, Quelqu'un m'a dit, came out in 2003 and spent 34 weeks in the top 10 of the French Albums Chart. The next year she won the Victoire Award for Female Artist of the Year. She has since released several albums, including No Promises, Comme si de rien n'était, Little French Songs, and French Touch. Her music career has led to sales of over 5 million albums.

In 2008, Bruni married Nicolas Sarkozy, then President of France, and served as first lady until 2012. During that time, in 2009, she established the Carla Bruni-Sarkozy Foundation to support philanthropic causes.
