Jenifer Bartoli, known by the mononym Jenifer, is a French singer and actress. Born on November 15, 1982, in Nice, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France, she is of French and Italian nationality, with Corsican-Italian and Belgian roots on her mother's side and Jewish Algerian heritage from her father. She comes from a modest background and began her career early, participating in the television broadcast 'Graines de star' in 1997, though it did not lead to success. She later moved to Paris to audition for the first season of 'Star Academy France', a reality TV show that became a huge hit. In 2001, at age 19, she won the competition, launching her music career.
Her debut single 'J'attends l'amour' followed quickly, and her self-titled debut album sold over 750,000 copies.
