About Beatrice Dominguez

Edited by the community

Mexican actress Beatrice Dominguez was born on September 6, 1896, in Chihuahua, Mexico. She began her career in vaudeville as an exotic dancer, performing under the name 'La Bella Sevilla.' In 1914, she made her film debut in 'The Masked Dancer,' directed by Burton L. King at Vitagraph studios. She later gained popularity in Art Acord westerns, including 'The Moon Rider' in 1920.

Dominguez made screen history when she danced the tango with Rudolph Valentino in 'The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse' in 1921. The scene captivated audiences and helped make Valentino a star. Sadly, she collapsed from a ruptured appendix later that year and died of peritonitis after surgery. She was only 24. She left a brief but memorable mark on silent film.
