Biography
About Alex Sim-Wise
With her red hair, hazel eyes, and a slim 5'5" frame, Alex Sim-Wise cut a striking figure across British media for over two decades. Born on Wednesday, November 11, 1981, in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England, this English model, writer, and presenter began her career in 2004 after winning the FHM Student of the Year competition while representing the University of East Anglia. At the time, she was captain of her university cheerleading squad, the UEA Angels, and graduated that same year with a 2:1 degree in Film and American Studies.
Sim-Wise's modeling breakthrough came in August 2005 as a Page 3 Girl for the Daily Star. The following year, she won both the Playboy UK Cyber Girl of the Year and the Cover Girl competition for the Daily Star on Sunday. From 2006 through most of 2007, she worked for The Fratellis as the live version of their album cover pin-up, appearing in TV adverts and joining the band at Reading Festival. She also shot an ill-fated campaign for Agent Provocateur with Lily Allen and later worked with photographer Rankin, featuring in the Grapevine section of Playboy US.
Writing became another of her trades. Since March 2007, she wrote a column for Front, and by April 2009 she moved into their games section, handling all video game reviews. Her television work spans a 2007 ITV2 documentary called Generation Xcess, a brief appearance on E4's Sex in Court, regular slots on Nuts TV, and her own show in 2008 on Sumo TV titled In Bed with Sim-Wise. That year she also interviewed celebrities for Myspace UK, including Lady Gaga, Alex Zane, and Jack Black. She had small parts in The Bank Job and RocknRolla, joined Current TV as a presenter in 2009, and later worked as a London correspondent for G4's Attack of the Show!. Currently, she works as the resident games and gadgets girl on the Greg James Radio 1 weekday afternoon show. Her real, natural 32D figure and her three tattoos, including a "Bad girl" on her arm and a Bettie page on her back, remain recognizable signatures. People often mistake her online for Mythbusters co-host Kari Byron. That mix of curiosity and range defines her career. She continues to create as a blogger today.
