About Alex Dana
With her warm brown eyes and natural curves, Alex Dana, born Alexandra Canto on June 26, 1978, in Marseille, has been a familiar face in French pop music since the early 2000s. She rose to fame as one of the five singers in the group L5, which was formed in 2001 on the television talent show "Pop Stars" broadcast on M6. The show attracted 10,000 participants during auditions, and the group's first single, "Toutes les femmes de ta vie décembre," became a massive hit, selling 1.6 million copies and achieving diamond status. Their self-titled album "L5" also sold 1.2 million copies, though subsequent singles didn't match that success.
Between 2002 and 2006, L5 released four more albums, including a "Best Of" compilation, after which the group broke up. Alexandra attempted to reform the group in 2010, but without success. She then teamed up with Marjorie, another L5 member, to form the duo Diamond Girls in 2011, and also pursued a solo career under the name Alex Dana. The two friends, who had become inseparable, appeared on the fourth season of L'île des Vérités, a reality TV show on NRJ12 set in Tahiti. Today, Alexandra works as a nail technician in the Marseille region.
In a rebranded form known as New L5, the group reunited with Alexandra, Marjorie, Coralie, and two new members, Julie and Adeline. In October 2021, they returned to the stage with a tour called Back to Basic 2000. Currently, about 29,000 people follow her on Instagram, where she shares glimpses of her life and continued ties to the music world.
