Unne Terjesen

Few Playboy centerfolds can claim a record that still stood for decades. Unne Terjesen is one of them. As of December 2009, she was one of only two playmates in the magazine's history to have 39-inch hips, and the very first ever. Her centerfold photograph was taken by Mario Casilli, a name synonymous with the era's most iconic layouts.

Born in Odda, Norway, in 1943, Terjesen was just 19 when her pictorial ran. She became Playboy's Playmate of the Month for July 1962, working as a model for that brief period. Standing 5'7" with a slim build, her measurements were 39-23-39, the waist contrasting sharply with those famous hips. Her look was classic: blonde hair, blue eyes, and a real, natural 36D bust. She performed topless-only solo shoots, a detail that set her apart in an industry often defined by more explicit content. Though her active career lasted just that one year, her place in Playboy history was already secure.
