Biography

About Tura Satana

Edited by the community

Tura Satana is best remembered as Varla in Russ Meyer's "Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill!", a role that made her a cult icon. The film, which predated "Thelma and Louise" by 20 years, showcased her leather-clad toughness and karate skills. Off-screen, she was known to be sweet, a stark contrast to her on-screen persona.

Born in Hokkaido, Japan, Satana was an American actress and former exotic dancer. She first gained attention as a burlesque dancer using the stage name "Miss Japan Beautiful" and as a nudie-cutie model. She later moved into film, appearing in several B-movie favorites during the 1960s and 1970s. She stands 5'7" with black hair and brown eyes, and was active from 1963 to 2011.
