Tonya Kinzinger started dance lessons at age three, when her mother enrolled her in tap dancing classes. By six, she was passionate about ballet. She left Michigan to train at a respected dance school in New York, where a photographer scouted her. That led to modeling work in Paris before she returned to the U.S. to finish high school.

Kinzinger then moved to France to pursue acting. She appeared in the film "Dancing Machine" with Alain Delon. Beginning in 1996, she played Jessica in the long-running French TV series "Sous le soleil" (Under the Sun), a role that made her famous in France and lasted until 2008. The series also connected her with co-stars Bénédicte Delmas and Adeline Blondieau. In 2006, she appeared in two episodes of "The Bold and the Beautiful" in Los Angeles. The following year, she launched a fashion collection called "Tonya - K." with Christophe Lebo, and she played Sally in the movie "Fool Moon," directed by Jérôme L'Hotsky, filmed in Britain in mid-2007. Her other TV work includes the series "Dreams" on NRJ 12. In 2011, after meeting Stéphane Slima on the set of "Sous le soleil," she acted in the play "Le Président, sa femme et moi." In 2012, she hosted season 9 of "Star Academy" on NRJ 12. In 2014, she competed on "Danse avec les stars 5" and reached the semifinals.
