Thuy Trang

With her slim, natural figure, dark black hair, and a height of 5'6", Thuy Trang carried a striking presence both on and off screen. She was born on December 14th, 1973, in Saigon, Vietnam. After the fall of Saigon in 1975, her father, a Vietnam War veteran, fled to the United States for political asylum, but the rest of the family had to wait. In 1979, Thuy and her family boarded a cargo ship with other refugees, sailing first to a detention camp in Hong Kong before finally reuniting in California in 1980.

Thuy graduated from Banning High School and earned a scholarship to study civil engineering at UC Irvine. But after her father died from cancer in 1992, she felt drawn to acting. In 1993, at around 19 years old, she landed her first big break: the role of Trini Kwan on the hit TV series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. She left the show in 1994 to pursue other projects, appearing as an interviewee in the documentary Encyclopedia of Martial Arts: Hollywood Celebrities (1995) and making a cameo as a manicurist in Spy Hard (1996). Her next large role was Kali in The Crow: City of Angels (1996), the sequel to The Crow (1994). Her career spanned just three years, from 1993 to 1996.

Tragically, on September 3rd, 2001, Thuy was a passenger in a car on the I-5 when it lost control. She wasn't wearing her seatbelt. She suffered fatal injuries and passed away at age 27. She leaves behind a small body of work, but through it, she made an impact on many. She will be missed.
