The Great Kat

Musician The Great Kat, born Katherine Thomas, is an American artist known for merging thrash metal with classical music. She started performing in 1986, around age 20, and has remained active for 40 years. Born in Swindon, Wiltshire, England, she later became an American citizen. She is a classically trained violinist and a Juilliard School graduate. Initially, she toured playing conventional classical music before crossing over to metal. Her public persona, as shown in photos and videos, is often compared to a dominatrix, but in an over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek way. She is blonde with blue eyes, stands 5'6" tall, and has a slim build. At 60 years old, she continues to be a distinctive figure in music.
