Tai gained attention when she appeared in Playboy's October issue, billed as "the woman Senator Charles Robb couldn't resist," with a full photo spread and a tell-all interview about an affair she claimed to have had with Robb in 1984. On screen, she starred in the movie "Enemy Gold" with Suzi Simpson. She also wrote 11 episodes for the television series "Baywatch" and appeared in it as a background lifeguard in some episodes, as Sharon in the Season 6 episode "The Incident" and Season 7 episode "Buried," and as Julie in the Baywatch spin-off "Baywatch Nights" (Season 2, "Terror of the Deep").

Beyond acting, Tai co-created and served as writer and executive producer for "SAF3," a similar series, alongside Gregory J. Bonann. She is also the founder and executive director of the A Chance for Children Foundation, a supporting foundation that provides struggling children with education and facilities. Gregory is the co-founder and president of that foundation, so the two have continued their professional partnership in philanthropy.
