About Suzanne Vega

Edited by the community

Suzanne Vega is an American musician with a career that has spanned more than four decades. Born in Santa Monica, California, she began performing in 1982, when she was around 22 years old, and has remained active ever since. Over the years, her folk-inspired music has earned her a lasting place in the industry, with nine studio albums released to date, the most recent being Lover, Beloved: Songs from an Evening with Carson McCullers in 2016.

During the mid-1980s and 1990s, four of her singles reached the UK Top 40: "Marlene on the Wall," "Left of Center," "Luka," and "No Cheap Thrill." Her song "Tom's Diner," originally released as an a cappella recording on her 1987 album Solitude Standing, was later remixed by the English electronic duo DNA, and the dance version became a Top 10 hit in five countries. That same a cappella track was used as a test during the creation of the MP3 format, which led to her being called "The Mother of the MP3."

Suzanne Vega is 67 years old and has blue eyes and auburn hair. She has a slim build and her boobs are natural. She shares her music and updates with an Instagram following of 70,000 people. Her contributions to music and technology make her a distinctive figure in both fields.
