Susanna Hoffs

Hoffs also built a notable solo and acting career. She appeared in the films Stony Island (1978) and The Haircut (1982), both written by her mother, Tamar Simon Hoffs. She starred in the 1987 comedy The Allnighter, directed by her mother, though it was a commercial and critical failure. Her first solo album, When You're a Boy, arrived in 1991, followed by Susanna Hoffs in 1996. These albums yielded two charting singles: "My Side of the Bed" and "All I Want." She later formed the faux British 1960s band Ming Tea with Mike Myers and Matthew Sweet, performing in all three Austin Powers movies. She and Sweet also produced three albums of cover songs. Her later solo efforts include Someday (2012) and the cover albums Bright Lights (2021) and The Deep End (2023).

In 2023, Hoffs published her first novel, This Bird Has Flown, a romantic comedy about a struggling musician. It received favorable reviews, and Universal Pictures purchased the rights for a screen adaptation. She continues to engage with a large online audience. As of March 2026, she has accumulated 874,000 followers on Instagram and 410,100 followers on TikTok. Petite and slim, standing at 5'2" with a 34–24–35 figure, she remains a recognizably American icon in music and pop culture.
