Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Sophie Ellis-Bextor's first moment in the spotlight came in the late 1990s as the lead vocalist of the indie rock band Theaudience. After the group disbanded, she launched a solo career that took off in the early 2000s. Her debut solo album, Read My Lips, released in 2001, hit number two on the UK Albums Chart and went double platinum, selling 1.5 million copies worldwide. The single "Murder on the Dancefloor" became a defining hit of the era. Her music blends mainstream pop and dance with disco, nu-disco, and 1980s electronic influences.

Ellis-Bextor's personal life has been as eventful as her career. She met Richard Jones, bassist of the Feeling, in 2002 when he auditioned for her tour band. Their first child was born two months early, just eight months into their relationship. Fourteen months later, on 25 June 2005, they married in Città di Castello in Umbria, Italy. The couple has five sons, born in 2004, 2009, 2012, 2015, and 2019.
