About Simone Thomalla
Simone Thomalla, a 61-year-old German actress, singer, and voice actress, is one of the most recognizable faces on German television. Born on 11 April 1965 in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany, she grew up in Potsdam and initially wanted to become a pianist. Instead, she studied at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, where she participated in the special music class, and made her film debut in 1982 at age 17. Her breakthrough came in 1993 as apprentice Monika Helmholtz in the six-part ZDF miniseries Durchreise – Die Geschichte einer Firma. She became widely known as Leipzig Tatort inspector Eva Saalfeld, playing the role from May 2008 until 2015 in 21 episodes alongside Martin Wuttke. Since June 2011, she has starred as village helper Katja Baumann in the ZDF series Frühling.
Beyond acting, Thomalla has a varied career. She sang as a background vocalist for the GDR pop band Jessica in 1986, made her stage debut in the rock musical Rosa Laub in 1987, and recorded a cover of Herbert Grönemeyer's "Männer" with Andrea Berg and Birgit Schrowange. She has also appeared in numerous television films and series, including Ein Bayer auf Rügen, Unser Lehrer Doktor Specht, Mona M. – With the Weapons of a Woman, and Doctors. In 2010, she posed for the February issue of Playboy and appeared on the cover of the October 2015 issue alongside her daughter Sophia Thomalla, titled "Germany's 25 most beautiful stars." She also participated in the 18th season of the RTL dance show Let's Dance in 2025, finishing eighth.
Her personal life has often made headlines. She was married to actor André Vetters from 1991 to 1995, and their daughter Sophia was born in 1989. She later had relationships with actor Sven Martinek, football manager Rudi Assauer, handball player Silvio Heinevetter, and DJ Nicolino Hermano. Thomalla is also involved in charity work, supporting UNICEF through the benefit project Prominence for Charity. With brown hair, brown eyes, and an average build, she stands 5'6" tall. Her measurements are 36–26–37, and she has a natural 36C bust.
