Selma Bacha

Athletic and 5'3", Selma Bacha is a French professional footballer who plays as a left-back or left winger for Première Ligue club Lyon and the France national team. Born on Thursday 9th of November 2000 in Lyon, France, she is of Middle Eastern ethnicity, with a father of Algerian descent and a Tunisian mother. Her black hair and brown eyes are a familiar sight on the pitch.

Growing up in the Grange Blanche district of Lyon, Bacha was introduced to football by her brother at the age of four. She joined the Lyon academy at eight, and her performances in the youth ranks caught the attention of Sonia Bompastor, a former footballer responsible for Lyon's training centre. She signed her first professional contract with Lyon during the 2017–18 season. That same season, Lyon won the Champions League, with Bacha starting in the final. In the 2019 final, she came on as an 82nd-minute substitute for Eugenie Le Sommer.

In December 2024, Bacha extended her Lyon contract until 2029. Earlier that year, she was named in France's squad for the 2024 Olympics. At 25 years old, with 18 years of active play since 2008, she has established herself as a key figure in one of the top women's football clubs in Europe.
