About Saura Lightfoot-Leon
Saura Lightfoot-Leon is a Dutch actress and ballet dancer who has already made a significant mark on screen. Born on 1 January 1998 in Leiden, Netherlands, she is the daughter of English choreographer Paul Lightfoot and Spanish choreographer Sol León, both of whom worked with Nederlands Dans Theater. Growing up in The Hague, she appeared in the background videos of her parents' productions, including Silent Screen and Stop-Motion, even before formal training. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in 2020 with a BA in Acting, and that same year took part in a virtual project with Nederlands Dans Theater called She Remembers.
Her television debut came in 2022 with an episode of the BBC One miniseries Life After Life. Her feature film debut was in Hoard (2023), directed by Luna Carmoon, where she played the lead role of Maria alongside Joseph Quinn and Hayley Squires. The performance earned her a Special Jury Mention at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, as well as two 2024 British Independent Film Award nominations: Breakthrough Performance and Best Joint Lead Performance with Quinn. She was also named a 2024 Screen International Star of Tomorrow.
In 2024, Lightfoot-Leon appeared in three major productions: the Paramount+ series The Agency, where she played CIA field officer Daniela Ruiz Morata; the Apple TV+ WWII drama Masters of the Air; and the Netflix limited series American Primeval, a period Western. With a slim build, brown hair, and brown eyes, she brings a natural physicality to her roles. She is straight and of Caucasian ethnicity. Her Instagram following stands at 1k. And she's just 28. She has been active since 2020, meaning six years in the industry, a remarkably fast rise for a young performer.
