Saskia first captured national attention as a contestant on Big Brother 6. She was the fifth eviction, losing a public vote alongside fellow housemate Maxwell. The pair had been nominated together, and after leaving the house, they moved in together in Kingston and began a publicized relationship. Saskia's mother later commented that her daughter "wore the trousers" in the relationship, but the couple eventually split. Saskia's friend Jenny Hendy noted on Big Brother's Little Brother that Maxwell was not her traditional type, as she preferred tall, dark, and handsome men. Yet in her eviction interview with Davina, Saskia made her intentions clear: she wanted to date Maxwell, not just be his friend.

Alongside her television appearances, Saskia's physical transformation became a subject of media attention. When she entered the Big Brother house, she wore a 34FF bra. Within weeks of leaving, she had grown to a 34G, and by spring 2006, a Nuts interview revealed she had been measured for an H cup. By March 2010, she had reached a 32J and announced in April 2010 that she was undergoing a breast reduction operation to take her boobs down to a DD cup. Saskia is a quarter-Sri Lankan, won a beauty contest as a child, and has been linked romantically to an Olympic swimmer, a Premiership footballer, and Adam Nowland of Nottingham Forest. She also had an on-off relationship with Scott Bennetts, a footballer for Met Police, whom she met after his split from Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole.
