Sarah Silverman is best known for her deadpan, satirical comedy that takes on social taboos and controversial topics like racism, sexism, homophobia, politics, and religion. That approach carried her through a long career across television, film, and stand-up. Her first big break came as a writer and cast member on Saturday Night Live in its 19th season, from 1993 to 1994. She later created and starred in The Sarah Silverman Program on Comedy Central, which ran from 2007 to 2010 and earned her a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Beyond TV, she has acted in movies like School of Rock (2003), Take This Waltz (2011), A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014), and Battle of the Sexes (2018). She also voiced the character Vanellope von Schweetz in Wreck-It Ralph (2012) and its sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018). Her lead role in the drama I Smile Back (2015) brought a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. In 2010, she published her autobiography, The Bedwetter, which she later adapted into an off-Broadway musical in 2022.
