About Sandra Mozarowsky
Sandra Mozarowsky was a Spanish actress whose brief career ran from 1969 until her death in 1977. She was born Alexandra Elena Mozarowski Ruiz de Frías on 17 October 1958 in Tangier, Morocco, to a Russian father and a Spanish mother. She made her film debut at age ten in El otro árbol de Guernica (The Other Tree of Guernica) and went on to appear in a string of Spanish genre and exploitation films, often cast as one of the 'Lolitas' of the late seventies. Her credits include Night of the Seagulls, the fourth and final entry in the Blind Dead series; El colegio de la muerte (School of Death); Cuando el cuerno suena (When the Horn Sounds); Beatriz; and Call Girl: La vida privada de una señorita (Call Girl: The Private Life of a Lady Well).
Mozarowsky died on 14 September 1977, at the age of 18, after falling from her fourth-floor balcony. She spent twenty-two days in a vegetative coma before succumbing to her injuries. The official ruling was suicide, but some reports claimed she was watering flowers at the time of the fall, which occurred around 4 a.m. Her death became the subject of persistent speculation, partly because acquaintances were unwilling to accept the suicide verdict. Theories ranged from a rumoured affair with King Juan Carlos I and a subsequent pregnancy to the involvement of secret service operatives or Royal Household security staff. An interview published after her death documented her opposition to abortion, even though the topic was not central to the conversation.
The controversy was revisited in books by well-known authors. Andrew Morton's Ladies of Spain mentions alleged royal lovers and suggests sinister circumstances around her apparent suicide. Javier Bleda's Mario Conde, La reclusión del éxito references her in relation to a video allegedly kept to control the King. A book written under the pen name Tom Farrell, Escrito en un libro, offers a fictionalised account of an assault on an actress named Sara Wagnerowski, orchestrated by a character resembling the chief of the Royal Household. Mozarowsky was buried in the Holy Guardian Angel Cemetery in Madrid. Her death remains a topic of debate, with no definitive resolution. She was straight and Caucasian.
