About Romy Tarangul
Romy Tarangul, a former German judoka, traded the tatami for the pages of Playboy. Born on October 19, 1987, in Frankfurt (Oder), Brandenburg, Germany, she competed internationally in the under 52 kg category. Her best year was 2008, when she took silver at the European Championships. That result earned her a spot at the Beijing Olympics. She won her opening bout against Sinura Djuraeva of Uzbekistan, then lost narrowly to Misato Nakamura of Japan in the round of 16 and to Ilse Heylen of Belgium in the repechage. Later that summer, she posed nude for the German edition of Playboy with three fellow athletes: Nicole Reinhardt, Katharina Scholz, and Petra Niemann.
In 2009, she added a bronze medal at the World Judo Championships, her biggest international success. She returned to the Olympics in 2012, defeating Natalia Kuziutina in the first round before falling to Rosalba Forciniti of Italy in the quarterfinals. That Italian went on to win bronze. Tarangul retired from competition in 2016, ending a career that spanned 13 years, starting when she was around 15.
Off the mats, she appeared topless in Playboy as part of that 2008 spread. Standing 5'3" and weight 115 lbs, she has an athletic build, natural C-cup breasts, and brown hair and eyes. She has a mixed-race background, primarily Caucasian. She is straight. She married in 2016.
