About Romane Bohringer

Edited by the community

Romane Bohringer was born on August 14, 1973, in Pont-Sainte-Maxence, in the Oise region of Picardy, France. Her mother, Marguerite Bourry, known as Maggy Bohringer, left the family when Romane was nine months old, and Romane grew up in Deuil-la-Barre with her father, actor Richard Bohringer. Her paternal grandfather, originally from Baden-Württemberg, was an officer in the Wehrmacht during World War II. As a child, she imagined becoming a scriptwriter or a camerawoman. At age 13, she made her acting debut alongside her father in the film Kamikaze. She later revealed herself in the theatre, playing Miranda in Shakespeare's The Tempest with Kên Higelin, directed by Peter Brook.

In 1992, Romane's career was consecrated with the film Les Nuits fauves, directed by and starring Cyril Collard, which earned her the César for Best Female Newcomer and the Georges de Beauregard Prize. She went on to appear in a range of films: Claude Miller's L'Accompagnatrice, Martine Dugowson's Mina Tannenbaum (1994), Agnieszka Holland's Rimbaud Verlaine (Total Eclipse) (1995), Gilles Mimouni's L'Appartement (1996), and Our Darling Children (2003). In 2006, she starred in C'est beau une ville la nuit, directed by her father, and in 2009 she played herself in Maïwenn's mockumentary Le Bal des actrices. In 2017, she portrayed politician Arlette Laguiller in Alain Tasma's Le Viol. In 2018, she presented her first feature film, L'Amour flou, co-directed with Philippe Rebbot. The film is based on their personal experience of romantic separation while continuing to live under the same roof with their children in separate spaces. In 2020, she played Victoria Deshotel in They Were Ten, a miniseries adapted from Agatha Christie's novel.

Romane met Philippe Rebbot in 2004 on the set of the TV movie Le Triporteur de Belleville. They had two children: Rose, born on December 26, 2008, and Raoul, born on August 2, 2011. Although the couple separated, they live together with their children in two separate spaces in Montreuil, a situation that inspired L'Amour flou and its 2021 series extension. Beyond acting, Romane has been politically and socially active. In 2023, she supported the movement against the pension reform, co-signing a text that criticized it as unfair and ineffective. In 2018, she participated in a video for the song "De l'amour" for the association Urgence Homophobie, and in 2022 she signed an op-ed calling for a vote for Jean-Luc Mélenchon. In 2012, she and her father chose Lou Bohringer's project in a Canal+ call for projects, a choice that caused controversy. Romane is French with an average build, brown hair and brown eyes, and stands 5'5". She has been active in film, television, and theatre throughout her career. Today she is 52 years old. She is also active on Instagram with 86,000 followers. Her natural measurements are 36-22-34. She has performed full nudity in her work.
